Australian business energy · Demand tariff audit

Your bill is set by one half-hour a month. Most businesses guard the wrong one.

On a demand tariff, a big slice of your network bill is decided by your single highest 30-minute spike — and by which tariff measures it. Put a business on the wrong one and it can overpay for years. We read your meter data and find out.

No saving, no fee. We only invoice a share of what we actually save you.

The amber marker is the only reading your demand charge cares about. Shift it — or move to a tariff that measures a quieter window — and the bill moves with it.
Why this money goes unclaimed

Demand charges are big, silent, and almost never reviewed

Nothing on the bill says "you're on the wrong tariff." It just quietly recurs every month. Reviewing it is nobody's job, needs specific expertise, and only shows up when you plot a year of meter data against the tariff rules.

How Ledger Energy works

Four steps. You do the first one. We do the rest.

STEP 01

Send your data

Upload a recent bill and your interval (smart meter) data. We'll tell you exactly where to get the data file if you don't have it yet.

STEP 02

We analyse it

Our engine classifies your site against your distributor's own rules, finds your true peak under each tariff, and prices every option you're eligible for.

STEP 03

You get a report

A plain-English report: are you on the wrong tariff, which one fits your actual load, and the estimated annual saving. Free.

STEP 04

We handle the switch

If it's worth it, we prepare the change request for your approval and guide it through. You only pay once savings are real.

The part nobody tells you

You get one free tariff change a year. Guessing is expensive.

Why the "obvious" cheaper tariff can be the wrong one

An anytime-demand tariff looks cheaper on paper because its per-unit rate is often lower. But if your business peaks outside the peak window, a windowed tariff might only ever "see" a fraction of your demand — making the higher-rate tariff dramatically cheaper in practice. The opposite is true for a business that peaks during the window, like a restaurant at dinner.

It depends entirely on when your site peaks relative to your distributor's billing window — which is exactly what our analysis measures before anyone touches the switch. Because you typically get only one free change per year, getting it right the first time is the whole game.

Questions

The honest answers

Is this too good to be true?

No — but we're careful not to oversell. Not every business is on the wrong tariff. Plenty are already well-matched, and our report will tell you that plainly rather than inventing a saving. We make money only when there's genuine money to save, so we have no reason to pretend.

Does this work for my state and distributor?

Yes — we cover all of Australia's electricity distributors. Each one sets its own tariff rules, thresholds and billing windows, so our analysis is built per-distributor rather than a one-size-fits-all guess. Networks outside the National Electricity Market (WA and NT) work differently, but we can still help.

Where do I get my interval data?

It comes from your smart meter, via your retailer or distributor portal. If you don't have it, submit the form anyway — we'll reply with step-by-step instructions specific to your distributor and retailer.

What if switching would actually cost me more later?

That's exactly the risk we exist to prevent. Because you typically get one free tariff change a year, we model your full year of data under each option before recommending anything, and we build in a safety margin so a normal seasonal spike doesn't push you into penalty territory.

Do you switch my energy retailer?

No. This is about your network tariff — the distributor charge inside your bill — not about changing who you buy power from. It's a different, less-disruptive change.
